Innovation and Intellectual Property Management (IIPM) Laboratory

Last year, under the leadership of Andrew Czajkowski and Christopher Harrison, WIPO initiated a new Community of Practice (CoP) for patent analytics bringing together patent/IP offices from around the work to join forces and share experience on their work.

The CoP held its inaugural in-person Symposium “Elevating Patent Analytics Together” in Geneva at WIPO headquarters on 17/18 September 2024, for which Prof. Tietze was invited to provide the opening keynote following the symposium opening by Marco M. Alemán, WIPO’s Assistant Director General, IP and Innovation Ecosystems Sector (IES). Prof. Tietze’s keynote was titled “Unlocking the Social Value of Patent Data”. The slides are available for download here.

Prof. Tietze says “this is such an excellent initiative, which is very timely giving the substantial patent-data work flow changes we are currently experiencing giving the digitization of data, new data science techniques available and opportunities presented by AI and large language models, and particularly giving the global challenges we are facing”.
