The article titled “The High Cost of Executives’ Intellectual Property Blind Spots” addresses the knowledge gaps that many senior executives face in relation to intellectual property (IP). Drawing on insights from experienced IP experts, the study identifies three recurring challenges:
- Limited understanding of fundamental IP principles and international differences.
- Insufficient attention to the role of IP in strategic relationships, such as mergers, acquisitions, and collaborations.
- A failure to leverage IP strategically in alignment with business objectives.
The findings highlight the risks associated with these blind spots, including missed opportunities, reduced company valuations, and costly disputes. The authors call for stronger integration of IP considerations into executive decision-making, as well as closer collaboration between leadership and IP professionals.
